A message from President James Cech
Hello Michigan RID members!
We had a really encouraging turnout for the professional development weekend May 30th & 31st! Top-notch in-depth DeafBlind training, 15+ Deaf people interested in becoming a CDI, and a great ethical dilemma discussion group!
During the business meeting, I walked through our next priority initiative as an organization: updating the bylaws. If you have time, you can watch the meeting on our YouTube channel.
Additionally, the 2014 bylaws and the new proposed bylaws are linked below. We will ask all dual members (members of Michigan RID and RID) to vote on the proposed changes in August. All changes have been highlighted so you can easily compare the two documents.
We will be holding a vote for new board members ASAP, so please send your nominations in!!
I just want to say I think we made it through the hardest period as an organization, and I'm confident that we will become an agile organization capable of meeting our members' evolving needs. There is so much good work to be done, and we have a clear path forward over the next few years. If you are interested in helping Michigan RID transform, please reach out. Many hands make light work!
