3.0 CEUs (30 hours) PS/Legal. An all-inclusive, intensive one-week legal training summer camp program. A unique opportunity to study legal training in a small group setting.
When & Where
August 11th - August 15th, 2025
8:00 AM - 3:00 PM daily, Monday - Friday
Mequon, Wisconsin (Private Facility)
Space is limited to 10 participants! Camp fee includes training, food, and lodging.
Schedule
Day 1 – Facing your Fears!!!! – Legal Environments
Cultural aspects and influences in Legal interpreting
Power Dynamics in Legal Environments
Day 2 - Codes of Ethics in Legal Environments
How to properly prepare for legal assignments
Similarities and differences between sign language and spoken language interpreting, and how to work together
Day 3 – Interpreting Roles and Conflicts in Legal Settings
Team Interpreting in legal Settings
Correcting Errors in legal Settings
Day 4 – Criminal/Civil Cases and the Rules of Evidence
How lawyers think and prepare for a case, including questioning
Legal Documents and defining the construct of legal settings and procedures
Day 5 – Putting it all together
Legal terminology is used throughout the training
Fee & Lodging
Camp fee per person:
$1,000 (includes all meals & lodging)
$750 (includes all meals - no lodging)
Full refund, with cancellation accepted until 8/4/2025
Lodging includes (arrive Sunday evening after dinner):
Single + Shared spaces for sleeping
Shared bathrooms
Meals include:
Monday-Thursday: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Friday: Breakfast + Lunch
The facility can accommodate 4-6 participants with lodging and meals and an additional 4-6 participants with lodging on your own. Travel on your own.

About
Debra Gorra Barash is a highly regarded sign language interpreter with over 40 years of experience. She holds various specialized certifications, including in legal interpreting and mental health interpreting. Debra has played a significant role in shaping the ethical guidelines for court interpreters in Wisconsin and has served on committees to improve interpreting and translation in the state's courts. She provides professional training and lectures at various institutions and serves as a mentor and teacher in interpreter training programs. Debra's background in business administration led her to co-found Professional Interpreting Enterprise, LLC, recognized for its quality services. She has also served as an Executive Director for non-profit organizations, serves as a Board Director for a non-profit organization, and offers consulting services and expert witness testimony on interpreting issues.
