Voices for Health Announces New Scholarship and Career Assistance Fund

Two new funding opportunities are now available through Voices For Health to support both future and current ASL interpreters in Michigan.

ASL Interpreter Career Launch Scholarship

Voices For Health has established a new scholarship in partnership with Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) to help students continue their education in academic interpreter training programs.

The scholarship program will provide funding for the next five years and includes:

  • Four $1,000 scholarships for full-time students

  • Two $500 scholarships for part-time students

The goal of the program is to encourage students to pursue advanced interpreter education through programs such as Lansing Community College, Madonna University, and other academic interpreting programs.

Career Assistance Fund for Working Interpreters

Voices For Health has also created a Career Assistance Fund to help working interpreters offset professional development expenses.

The organization is dedicating $2,000 annually to support interpreters with costs related to:

  • Certification and testing fees

  • Endorsements

  • Professional registration

  • Continuing education opportunities
